Artist feature – Jamie Reid/Poür Me

Posted: November 25, 2020 by Soda in Indie, Jamie Reid, Pour Me

Jamie Reid/”Poür Me” was brought up in Ackergill in the far North Highlands of Scotland. From learning the guitar through High School and taking up bass and backing vocal positions in School Bands Jamie learned that there is no better feeling than performing live. Now Much older, slightly wiser and based in Aberdeen Scotland Jamie has been working on his ever changing solo project for years with no sign of slowing down. With Experience in various positions across a large scale of local and touring bands Jamie’s songwriting and influences vary greatly from track to track leading to an unpredictable live set.
It’s not been the easiest road and Jamie writes very personally about his struggles hence the name “Poür Me”  Hoping that certain themes will relate to his audience as his soul-bearing, raw music catches them.

About Taciturn-
Taciturn means “reserved or uncommunicative in speech; saying little”.
Set in the late teen/early 20’s era about repeatedly saying things you regret while at parties.
On occasion I’d try and train myself to be more reserved on nights out in order to avoid saying anything regretful which is where the title comes from.
This also isn’t a vague admittance to committing anything shockingly horrible it’s about the kind of moments everyone else laughs off and forgets instantly but you hold onto it and judge yourself harshly for it. There’s no other person being referred to in this- It’s in the moment vs morning after.

Why? Something different innit.

After a prolific series of releases in 2020 to kick start “Poür Me” Taciturn is the first single to be part of an album to be released in 2021.

“Similar to social anxiety or social phobia, anthropophobia is the fear of people. Unlike social anxiety, however, which often relates to feeling uncomfortable in crowds or a group context, anthropophobia symptoms can occur when the patient is in the presence of a single person.”

And now that you know the definition of Anthrophobia, can we change it to “absolute badassery”? Man! This new EP, Altered States hits so hard on each track and every single note. Certainly played with conviction, these guys have delivered a great package that’s a bit aggro, a bit punk and a whole lot of shit-kicking rock. These PA vets know exactly how to grab you by the ear and then by the throat. Singer Frank Phobia goes for the final blow with each syllable and the band is so no nonsense that you can’t help but bang thru the EP 3 or 4 times in one sitting. Lead single “Ghosts” is 1:57 of pure fast driving bliss. Anthrophobia is nailing a sound that is sorely missed without sounding dated or desperate.
