MUSIC-SURVIVAL-GUIDE Podcast Episode 17

First M-S-G Episode for 2019 and it is RAD. I sat down with frontman Bryan Maher of Long Island champs, Black Suit Youth a few weeks back. We had some seriously great conversation about BSY and lots of music in general. Certainly a great way to start our Podcast year, happy to have spent the time with him. Thanks Bryan!

MUSIC-SURVIVAL-GUIDE Episode 14

What a great episode you have here ready to consume. I had the honor of sitting down with singer extraordinaire, Mr. Tony Harnell last week to discuss…A LOT. You know him from his wonderful work with TNT and perhaps you ARE familiar with his other endeavors… If not, that is what we hope you take from this. We touched on almost every topic, leaving just a few stones unturned. Tony was gracious and super cool to spend this time with me. He has a lot of great stuff coming down the pipe and will even be playing on Long Island Friday October 5th in Smithtown at The Rail (see flyer below). I think enthusiasts of Tony’s will eat this up and those that enjoy our show will get treated to another informative and insightful installation. Doing these shows has been a joy. So lets spread it around and build it more so we can continue to bring you quality. I hope you dig this one. Thank you again Tony! Here’s to fast friends! Special thanks to D.A. of Shinobi Ninja for letting us use his place and also thanks to Monkey.

MUSIC-SURVIVAL-GUIDE Podcast Episode 13

Reconnecting with old friends is really great, and, I was lucky enough to do that on this episode. I had the pleasure to have an in-depth conversation with experimental poet, Billy Lamont. We lovingly dubbed this one our “ADD Episode”…haha, and for good reason. I haven’t seen Billy in almost 3 years. We last shared the stage together in 2015 at The Sidewalk Cafe in NYC for a Love, Hope, Strength benefit. Time flies. Hopefully we will connect again soon. He also has a brand new book out entitled, “Words Ripped From A Soul Still Bleeding”. Which you can order here: Words Ripped

Lucky number 13…coming at ya.

MUSIC-SURVIVAL-GUIDE Podcast Episode 12

It’s been a while since I published a new episode of the M-S-G Podcast. Excited to deliver to you number 12, right here, right now. About a month ago myself and Monkey rode into Brooklyn with a quick little set-up to go have some rad words with Shinobi Ninja frontman,  D.A., Doobie, Duke Sims  (he has many a name…)

Anyways, we met up at his brand new print shop in which he was currently remodeling, set up quick (thanks Monkey) and went to town with another great interview. We talked about a lot…Music, Life, Art and beyond, and it’s all here for your ears. So, get in there and give this a listen and share it along. I/We pride ourselves on great, in depth and even sometimes personal unedited interviews. If you really love stepping behind the curtain of an artist, I think we achieve that greatly with this podcast and MUSIC-SURVIVAL-GUIDE in general. I’m very proud of the content that has been built here and even though there may not be something for a few weeks, rest assured the return with be sickening.

So here you go. LISTEN, SHARE, REPEAT!

SO! It has been a minute since I dropped a post over here on M-S-G…That doesn’t mean it’s not going strong, all it means is that life happens and busy takes hold. In this case, for me, the busy has been amazing. So, to kick off the next few weeks of some upcoming great content I’ll give you a quick recap about how lucky and grateful I am AND how much hard work and determination pays off.

First, I’d like to mention that a little over a month ago we rolled out: WWW.MUSICSURVIVALGUIDE.ORG

The last month has been a wonderful blur. My SODA’S CRAFTY CHAOS project has been going great, I even got to work with a legend last month at Cradle Con, Mr. Larry Kenney (the voice of Lion-O and many other iconic characters!)

So yea, that was amazing. I also just sent out a candle that will hopefully be on a TV Show (fingers crossed).

Then, just 2 weeks ago I had the incredible honor of working merch for Jason Bieler of Saigon Kick as he played a rare solo gig in NYC. That was super badass, Jason was amazing and gave me space to do my job. Great stories and amazing stripped down versions of some of my most favorite SK songs.

Really incredible.

AND, (yes, there is more!) Just last week Roger Joseph Manning Jr. from my all time fave band, Jellyfish, invited me out to the Beck show at MSG as he and Jason Falkner (also former Jellyfish) are in his band. What a killer show, and to get to see more of my inspirations do their thing together was truly awesome. The “aftershow” was especially rad as I was able to present Roger with my limited edition enamel Jellyfish pin set that I made about 2 months ago.

I’ve been enjoying the shit out of these amazing experiences and take none of it for granted. How could I complain? (If only I were rich!) BUT, I get to do all this great stuff while I also work with disabled kids during the day to make ends meet. Although I have not actively been playing music like I used to (currently) BUT, HOWEVER have just had two of my older songs from a previous project, One Last November, placed in new indie film, Happiness Adjacent – I am still neck deep in it, just different avenues. Even today I got offered free tix to The Cult, Bush & STP at Jones Beach (Thanks to Mike from Pudding Time). Before I sign off for now I was also able to fit in two new amazing episodes of the M-S-G Podcast that will be coming over the next 2 weeks. One, with D.A. from Shinobi Ninja and the awesome experimental Poet, Billy Lamont! <— ( who has a new rad book out!)

SUPER PSYCHED. Hope if you read this you are feeling the vibe and are ready to rock right along with me!  PEACE ❤

Shout-out to my partner, NOX CULT drummer, Monkey. We’ve been having a blast. Thanks to all for following, listening, sharing…it means everything. So, stick around as we continue the adventures. And please reach out if you would like to get on the Show, get your album reviewed, do an interview…

AND IN OTHER NEWS…

I have also been focusing a lot on my SODA’S CRAFTY CHAOS project in which I make candles, light switch covers, prints…etc. I wanted to announce that I have released my first run of enamel pins! I really wanted it to be very special SO…it is an ode, a bit of a tribute, to my favorite band, JELLYFISH. I figured, what better way to start this endeavor than to bring something awesome like this to the still existing Jellyfish community. I will be bringing more pins to life down the line but for now, head over to my store and grab your set, limited to ONLY 30 SETS!

Get the pins here!
